Greetings and welcome to our website featuring our two collaborative programs – the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (SCBScN) program and the Collaborative Nurse Practitioner Program (CNPP). These programs will prepare you with the knowledge, practice competencies, critical thinking and leadership skills you need to launch a rewarding career.

This is an exciting time to establish a career as a registered nurse or nurse practitioner, our graduates are highly sought after by employers. The need for nurses has never been greater and the impact we have on the health care system is very powerful. Our programs have a strong focus on clinical practice education and inter-professional education that will prepare you to provide leadership as a competent and caring registered nurse or nurse practitioner. Our team of expert faculty is committed to providing quality education and helping students to achieve success.

This is a great time to consider a career in nursing. My hope is that your educational journey and subsequent career is as fulfilling as mine has been!

Welcome from the Faculty of Nursing, University of Regina.

The Faculty of Nursing was established in 2009. As we move into and past our 10th year anniversary, our history and our future confirm our “place” in nursing within the Province. I take great pride in the accomplishments of our faculty, staff, and students. Faculty, through their teaching, research, scholarship, and service are creating an impact that matters to the nursing profession and to those whom we serve, including students, patients and their family members, and clients. Our support staff are second to none and greatly contribute to the success of the Faculty. Our students are known for their leadership within Saskatchewan and at the national level (i.e., leadership within the Canadian Nursing Students’ Association).

With our partner, Saskatchewan Polytechnic, the Faculty of Nursing offers the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science (SCBScN) program and the Collaborative Nurse Practitioner (CNPP) program. The SCBScN is available in Regina, Saskatoon, and in North Battleford (local cohort intake). This program is approved by the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association (SRNA), and is accredited through the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN). Within this program, students can complete the bilingual (French-English) option—the only bilingual nursing education option in Saskatchewan. For students who have completed an undergraduate degree, we offer the After Degree Nursing Program. Our graduates are demonstrating success with the NCLEX-RN exam (required to become licensed in Canada) with a first time pass rate of over 90%. The CNPP program is available online to registered nurses throughout Saskatchewan and beyond. This program is also approved by the SRNA and was the first program in Canada to undergo accreditation review by CASN as a pilot project. Every student who has graduated from the CNP¬P has passed the national exam that licenses nurse practitioners in Canada; a pass rate of 100%

We are committed to doctoral education and the establishment of an innovative, creative, PhD program in nursing that maximizes the use of existing resources within and external to the Faculty of Nursing. A special case PhD has served us well during the past many years (1 graduate, 2 students currently enrolled); however, a regularized PhD program is much needed. At present, the Faculty hosts the annual Canadian Doctoral Nursing Network Conference, the only such venue for doctoral students (who are registered nurses) in Canada.

All of our successes are a consequence of the dedication, hard work, and leadership by members of our community.
